Meetings Africa expects 3,000 visitors

South African Tourism is encouraging members of the business tourism industry – including meeting and event planners, conference organisers, incentive travel planners and destination marketers – who plan to attend Meetings Africa 2009 to register online for easy access to the exhibition.

Meetings Africa, the continent’s top marketing platform for the business tourism industry, will take place at the Sandton Convention Centre from 25 to 27 February.

It will be officially opened by Environmental Affairs and Tourism Minister Marthinus van Schalkwyk.

Nomasonto Ndlovu, Global Manager: Business Tourism at South African Tourism says approximately 3 000 people are expected to visit the exhibition, including 120 top international buyers of business tourism products and services. “Registering beforehand, on www.meetingsafrica.co.za, will save time and facilitate easy access for visitors who have scheduled appointments with exhibitors inside.”

Visitors can simply click on ‘visitors’ and then choose the ‘register’ option to fill in the visitor registration form online.

A record number of 200 exhibitors from across the business tourism industry will be exhibiting their products and services at Meetings Africa, including conference and meeting venues, incentive travel destinations, convention bureaus, destinations marketing authorities, hotels and airlines. More than 50 of these companies will be exhibiting at Meetings Africa for the first time.

In addition to local corporate buyers, buyers from South Africa’s most important overseas business tourism markets will attend Meetings Africa, including the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Belgium, the USA, Australia, Italy, India and China.

Ndlovu says over and above to the online registration option, Meetings Africa visitors and exhibitors are able to use an online appointment diary. “Our aim is to give exhibitors and visitors a seamless experience in an environment that is conducive to conducting business.”
