Knysna Tourism voted the “Best Tourism Office”
Knysna tourism won the “Best Tourism Office in the Western Cape” award for the second consecutive year on Wednesday night at the 2008 Western Cape Provincial Tourism Awards in Cape Town. Mike Griffiths, Chairman of the Tourism Board, said they were delighted. “It is a great achievement. Winning this award for the second time is recognition for the excellent teamwork of the staff at Knysna Tourism. We have a strong, professional and committed team, and it shows.”
He said that the award also reflects on the outstanding relationship with their main stakeholders, especially the Knysna Municipality. “As our main funder the municipality directly contributes to our success. They share our passion for Knysna, as well as our vision and drive going forward and make it possible for us to achieve what we do.”
Griffiths said that the other board members that effortlessly give their time and dedication to tourism in Knysna must be acknowledged, as well as the Knysna Tourism members. “We will not be able to win these awards without the support and help of our members – top industry leaders and that help us tremendously in our task.”
Lizel Fourie and Executive Mayor Eleanore Bouw-Spies received the award in Cape Town on behalf of Knysna Tourism from Minister of Finance, Economic Development and Tourism, Mr Garth Strachan.
