Tourvest launches two new overland scheduled tours

Johannesburg – Tourvest Inbound Operations, the inbound destination division of the Tourvest group of companies, has introduced two new overland tours to its extensive range of scheduled tours.

The first, which falls under TIO’s rustic explorer class, is a six day adventure through the Drakensberg and Lesotho areas starting in Johannesburg and ending in Durban.  The second, under TIO’s more luxurious gold class, is also a six day tour which takes travellers through the Waterberg Mountains and includes stop-overs in the Madikwe Reserve, Sun City and the Welgevonden Game Reserve.  (See itineraries below for more information).

These tours will be conducted in TIO’s signature luxury air-conditioned vehicles with an expert driver and guide.  Each vehicle, which limits the number of passengers to seven to maintain a feeling of intimacy about the tour, has ample leg room and baggage space as well as a host of touring accessories aimed at enhancing the travel experience for foreign visitors.

TIO CEO Peta Panos says the company’s ability to select the perfect routes in an expansive country with many different roads to choose from is what makes each of its tours a classic and a truly African experience.  “Matching the diverse requirements of travellers from around the world to the diverse experiences to be had in South Africa requires flexibility and a deft personal touch.  Over the years TIO has developed some 250 tours and each of these has been a tremendous success,” she says.

“Around the world, scheduled escorted tours have traditionally appealed to travellers who like to keep holiday arrangements safe and simple while extracting maximum value for money.   Many travellers use scheduled tours as a reconnaissance, returning a second time to the same country as independent tourists.  In regions with an abundance of travel attractions like Southern Africa, scheduled tours have an additional purpose:  they narrow down an almost unlimited range of attractions to the specifics of core itineraries, while at the same time ensuring that the needs and interests of our guests are always accommodated,” she says.
