Global Conferences Africa acquires new business
Cape Town – Global Conferences Africa, a member of Tourvest Inbound Operations, has won a number of new contracts following the establishment of a new business development team.
The team consists of deputy chairman Brian McDonald, newly appointed new business development manager Belinda Lamprecht and new business development assistant Gillene Sedgewick.
Major new contracts include one with the Albert B. Sabin Vaccine Institute, which will hold an international symposium in Sandton in February 2009. In terms of the contract, Global Conferences Africa will assist with the planning and running of the event as well as managing the invitations and travel arrangements for representatives from 53 African countries.
According to Lamprecht, Global Conferences Africa won the contract against stiff competition.
In addition, Global Conferences Africa has been appointed a preferred professional organiser to the Financial Services Board and will help this organisation in presenting the bid for Cape Town to host the 2011 International Organisation of Securities Commission (IOSCO) Conference.
Since the establishment of the team three months ago, a total of 13 tenders and a similar number of proposals have been submitted.
“New business is critical for any company,” says Lamprecht. “The formation of this specialised team, whose sole purpose is to win new business, is an indication of our commitment to strengthen our position as one of the leading professional organising and event management companies, not only in South Africa, but throughout the continent.”
