Meetings Africa partners Google
Sandton – Members of the South African business tourism trade are set to gain access to a potential 8.7 million visitors who use search engines as the first point of call to research a destination. This is as a result of a partnership between South African Tourism and Google Adwords which will see attendees of the Business Tourism Conference, which takes place on February 26, 2007 ahead of Meetings Africa, receive the opportunity to market their businesses in an online environment.
Google AdWords is offering a total of 250 vouchers to the value of $100 each, which amounts to R 779.28. Each voucher allows conference delegates the opportunity to place an advertisement on the internet through the search engine.
Angeline Lue, SA Tourism’s general manager for Business Tourism says, “As a player in the global tourism arena, South African Tourism recognises the importance of having an online presence and we have partnered with Google to present the opportunity to member of the Business Tourism trade in South Africa. This is but one of the opportunities presented at Meetings Africa to better gear our destination to be a global player in the Meetings Industry. .”
When registering for the Business Tourism Conference at Meetings Africa, delegates automatically qualify for the Google AdWords voucher.
The voucher enables delegates to create adverts, and select search keywords, related to their businesses. This means when Google users search on the engine using one of the selected keywords the advert will appear along the side of the results page.
As part of AdWords, Google offers to create a webpage at no extra charge to businesses who do not already have one.
“This partnership is yet another indication of SA Tourism’s commitment to assist tourism establishments to better sell South Africa in a highly competitive, global marketplace,” concludes Lue.
