Comair renews British Airways partnership

Johannesburg – Comair Limited (Comair) the successful JSE listed company on Thursday announced that it has concluded the renewal of its license agreement with British Airways PLC. The original agreement, signed in 1996, has over the past eleven years provided both Comair and British Airways with significant benefits and achievements.
Customers from the UK and Europe have taken advantage of the convenient seamless service using scheduled British Airways flights from London direct to Johannesburg and Cape Town and connecting on to one of the three hundred domestic and regional weekly services offered by Comair.

Locally, customers have enjoyed the benefits of the airline belonging to the global oneworld™ alliance that affords them access to an extensive route network through the twelve member airlines. British Airways has also been the proud airline sponsor of the Springboks for the past 7 years.

Erik Venter, Comair’s joint CEO says of the renewed relationship, “We are very proud that Comair was the airline to bring this acclaimed brand to our local and regional skies thereby offering Southern Africans a world class choice in premium air travel. The agreement will see us flying the well known British Airways livery for many years to come.”

Roger Maynard, British Airways’ Director of Investments and Alliances said: “When Comair first applied to operate the franchise their track record assured us that they were capable of running a highly successful operation and they have certainly added value to our global business over the years. They have done an exceptional job flying the British Airways brand in Africa.”

Venter added: “Future plans to grow the brand are currently centered on creating a more extensive African footprint with new routes in the pipeline.”
