British Airways to introduce mandatory e-ticketing
Johannesburg – British Airways operated by Comair Limited is currently investing significantly to improve its customers’ experience and is removing as many complex processes as possible, including the use of paper tickets. The airline will be introducing mandatory e-ticketing on all its routes effective 1 October 2007.This move is in line with British Airways’ global intention of only issuing e-tickets and also IATA’s decision to remove all paper tickets by the end of May 2008. E-ticketing has several advantages that include providing ticketing efficiencies for travel agents and security peace of mind for customers.
Customers’ booking details will be safely stored on a British Airways database and the travellers will receive an e-ticket itinerary receipt detailing the flight schedule, which they can present at the airport check-in desks with their booking reference.
Stuart Cochrane, the airline’s Manager of Marketing and Communications adds, “apart from saving our customers money, ultimately this will put the customer in more control of their journey as e-tickets can be changed up to 30 minutes before minimum check in time, subject to fare conditions.”
British Airways has warned that travel agents’ failure to comply with the new regulation will result in an ADM charge of R250.00
