Hospitality Investment Conference on course
Tshwane – There is still space available for the first-ever Hospitality Investment Conference for Africa (HICA) to be held in Cape Town.
This according to Mmatšatši Marobe, Chief Executive Officer of the Tourism Business Council of South Africa’s (TBCSA) – organisers of the conference, who says anyone looking to invest in Africa will need to understand how to market destination Africa. “So this is an even better reason to book for HICA.”
Marobe says the conference will strongly contribute to addressing Africa’s challenges in a manner that continuously and effectively links knowledge on investment with the continent’s development needs in tourism and hospitality sectors.
She says delegates at the conference will have an opportunity to hear from some of the successful African investors in the hospitality such as Trevor Ward of the W Hospitality Group, a Nigerian based organisation including interests in a hotel management company operating a number of boutique hotels marketed as The West Africa Collection.
Trevor will be unpacking the unique selling propositions for Africa, and exploring the opportunities for twinning or teamwork between countries. According to Marobe the Group are on an expansion drive opening new hotels across Western Africa with a main focus on Nigeria and Ghana under the Golden Tulip Brand.
Marobe says in addition Shingi Munyeza of African Sun Hotels will talk on the niche marketing opportunities investors should be considering in the African Hospitality Sector.
She says African Sun Hotels have launched a large-scale expansion programme set to inject new life into the tourism industry throughout much of the continent.”
Their portfolio includes the prestigious Grace Hotel in Johannesburg, and the Victoria Falls Hotel and Elephant Hills in Zimbabwe and their development plans include hotels in west, east and southern Africa, among them Nigeria, Ghana, Tanzania, Botswana, Equatorial Guinea, Cameroon, DRC, Angola and South Africa.
The conference which starts on 30th September to 2nd October this year at the Cape Town’s Arabella Sheraton Grand Hotel, is an initiative of the Tourism Business Council of South Africa (TBCSA), and is undertaking this conference with the assistance of distinquished sponsors; Pam Golding Property Group, ABSA, Lonhro Africa, Timeshare Institute of South Africa and Grant Thornton and a host of supporters.
