Lalibela Game Reserve world-class conference venue
Grahamstown – Pioneering the Big Five conference centre experience in the Eastern Cape, Lalibela launches a visionary new multi-purpose venue offering a world-class conference centre, boma restaurant and wedding location.
The new initiative will serve the holistic needs of conference delegates and wedding guests by providing both an international standard conference room and superior dining experience.
The conference centre contains 113 theatre-style seats with an additional 26 freestanding seats available. An additional boardroom can accommodate 24 delegates for breakaway meetings. The stage in the main conference room has facilities for three varying lectern placements. One of the drawcards in the conference venue is a 5,5-metre drop down screen for presentations. The centre is equipped with translator boxes for international conferences and a state-of-the-art sound system. The stage can be used for product launches and there is a ramp so that vehicles can be driven right onto the stage.
The main conference room can be transformed into a magical wedding chapel, complete with altar, fragrant flowers and twinkling lights. The giant stage doors can be opened to reveal an additional outside stage large enough for a 24 piece orchestra and full theatre production. The striking boma restaurant functions as both a stand-alone feature and as a restaurant for the conference venue. Buffet meals are served with exotic African cuisine including crocodile, warthog, mopane worms and ostrich.
Both temporary and permanent jobs have been created since building work on the new conference centre began. Locals from the Makana District have especially benefited from the creation of 80 temporary jobs and 22 permanent jobs as a result of the new multi-purpose venue.
Lalibela is located between Grahamstown, the cultural hub of South Africa, and one of the fastest growing cities in the country, Port Elizabeth.
