Last chance to enter ETEYA Awards 2007
Johannesburg – Entrants for the Emerging Tourism Entrepreneur of the Year Award (ETEYA) have only two days left to submit their documentation. ETEYA, which recognizes small, micro and medium tourism and or hospitality related businesses forms an important part of the local tourism and hospitality calendar
Entries are open to accommodation providers businesses, tour operators and travel agents. Entrants must operate a business that has been running for less than five years, that employs less than 200 people and has an annual turnover not exceeding R10 million.
According to Sindile Xulu SAT Domestic Country Manager, “The awards aim to reward the innovative ideas that the entrants contribute towards sustaining the tourism industry at both local and international level”.
ETEYA, now in its 7th year is being held in partnership with one of the leading bank’s in South Africa, ABSA, The Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism (DEAT), The South African Tourism Service Association (SATSA), Tourism Enterprise Programme (TEP) and Tourism Grading Council of SA (TGCSA).
Finalists from each province travel to the World Travel Market where an overall winner is announced. The grand winner receives a prize of R50 000 which is then reinvested in their businesses to help grow it. Added to that is the opportunity that all nine finalists will interact with international trade and buyers in what is regarded as the world’s premier trade show.
“It is imperative that product owners who qualify for ETEYA hand in their entries as this provides a chance of a lifetime for them and their businesses. Highlights of the competition include a chance to network and interact with peers and local and international trade”, she adds.
