Orion Promenade Hotel appoints general manager
Nelspruit – Orion Hotels and Resorts have announced the appointment of a new general manager at their hotel in Nelspruit, the Orion Hotel Promenade. Shane Rogers joins Orion Hotels and Resorts from the Winkler Hotel in White River, where he was initially the food and beverage manager for three years followed by seven years as the general manager.
Rogers, initially from Johannesburg, has more than 17 years experience in the industry, having commenced his career with the Protea Hotel Group and later working in various management positions for the Karos Group and private hotels.
Rogers said he was delighted to be joining the Orion Hotels and Resorts. “It is a different and challenging environment and I appreciate reporting to a strong and decisive leader like Franz Gmeiner, the CEO. He has remarkable vision and clearly defined strategies and I believe that Orion Hotels & Resorts has the potential to become a major player in the industry.”
Franz Gmeiner, CEO Orion Hotels & Resorts said that Rogers was an excellent choice for the position of general manager at the Promenade. “Rogers has considerable cross-functional industry experience, he has an effective management style and an excellent track record in handling day-to-day hotel management.”
In his new position, Rogers is responsible for overseeing more than 50 employees as well as all the operations related to the smooth running of this well-positioned and popular hotel with its 72 guest rooms, banquet and conference space for up to 250 people, and a full range of superior amenities.
The 3 star Orion Hotel promenade, a country experience in the heart of Nelspruit, is a popular corporate executive venue for visiting agriculturists, engineers and government officials. Tourists also find it an ideal departure point for the Kruger National Park. The Promenade is situated at the gateway to the Drakensberg escarpment and several scenic wonder spots, such as the Blyde River Canyon, MacMac Pools, the historic village of Pilgrim’s Rest, God’s Window and Bourke’s Luck Pot Holes.
