Website to pay consumers for holiday videos

London – Holiday review website Holidaywatchdog.com is to pay consumers £20 for every video review used. A “real video review” section on the site offers holidaymakers the chance to show what a hotel or resort really looks like.

Travellers are asked to record small clips of their holiday accommodation and local amenities. These include clips from their room and its view, communal areas of the hotel and anything of interest to like-minded holidaymakers.

Holidaywatchdog.com managing director Chris Brown, who founded the site three years ago, said: “When you look at the success of sites like YouTube.com it’s a natural step for Holidaywatchdog.com to offer this service.

“It is unique to offer £20 for these reviews and response has already been huge. Holidaywatchdog.com is now a total package for the savvy holidaymaker who wants to enjoy a well earned rest with none of the usual hassle.”

“We are really excited to offer this new, real video package and as the amount of video reviews added increases, the information will become more and more valuable for the consumer.

“This is the way the travel industry should be moving and we want to help it on its way.”

The site offers a list of the most popular and most recent video reviews available and offers a video review logo by each hotel listing to show it has a video review available.

Holidaywatchdog.com publishes thousands of real reviews every month added to the site by holidaymakers. They are invited to “write the truth” about their accommodation and about the resort they stayed in so others can avoid making the same mistakes when booking a holiday, the company says.
