Terroir Restaurant gets Eat Out Johnnie Walker award
Stellenbosch – Terroir Restaurant located on the picturesque Kleine Zalze Wine Estate scooped the year’s most prestigious accolade on the gastronomic calendar, when it was named the Eat Out Johnnie Walker Restaurant of the Year 2006. Hosted at the unique location of the Bloomsbury luxury vehicle show room in Cape Town, the gala dinner paid homage to restaurateurs and chefs around South Africa.
Talented chef duo Michael Broughton and Nic van Wyk launched Terroir in 2004 together with Managing Director and co-owner of Kleine Zalze, Kobus Basson. The perfect blend of a rustic country charm ambience, coupled with excellent, knowledgeable service and a simple menu that is French – Mediterranean with a local Cape twist in influence was an instant hit with local and international visitors.
Eat Out Johnnie Walker Restaurant of the Year; Terroir in Stellenbosch also won the Service Excellence Award. Eat Out Editor, Abigail Donnelly heaped praise to this year’s winning restaurant. “To be named the best in South Africa is the ultimate accolade for any restaurant, for the experience of eating there must be as close to perfection as it’s possible to be, not only for our judges and reviewers but also for Eat Out readers and website browsers.”
In 2005, Terroir received top 10 status in both the Eat Out restaurant guide as well as Wine magazine and has recently been voted as the Cape’s top wine restaurant in the 2006 Great Wine Capitals Global Network Best of Tourism competition.
The Kleine Zalze portfolio also includes the award winning Kleine Zalze range of wines, the Kleine Zalze Lodge and the De Zalze Golf Course, co-managed by Kleine Zalze.
