World Travel Awards Unveils Winners at Kempinski Seychelles Resort

 

Winners at the World Travel Awards Africa & Indian Ocean Gala Ceremony 2015 have been announced at the Kempinski Seychelles Resort in Baie Lazare.

Air Seychelles, the national airline of Seychelles, was among the biggest winners, taking the accolades at this year's event for Indian Ocean's Leading Airline, Indian Ocean's Leading Airline – Business Class and Indian Ocean's Leading Cabin Crew – the latter two for the second year running.

In front of more than 150 industry leaders from 20 countries, host Seychelles took the title of Indian Ocean’s Leading Destination, while Maldives was recognised as Indian Ocean's Leading Beach Destination.

The winners have been decided through a global voting system by more than 500,000 travel professionals and high-end tourism consumers from 171 countries.

Kenya took the sought-after trophy for Africa's Leading Tourist Board.

"Tonight has been a fantastic display of hospitality brands from the Indian Ocean region and Africa. We have acknowledged some industry leading brands and it is a pleasure to honour our winners here at Kempinski Seychelles Resort," said Graham Cooke, World Travel Awards president.

He added: "The winners will now qualify for the Grand Final in Morocco later in the year, and I look ahead to welcoming them there."

Also among the winners was La Cigale Hôtel Tabarka in Tunisia for Africa’s Leading New Hotel, while Hilton Hurghada Plaza received the award for being Africa's Leading All Inclusive Resort.

World Travel Awards was established in 1993 to reward, recognize and celebrate excellence in all sectors of the tourism industry.
