Warsaw's international airport banned briefly the landings

Announcements
Authorities of the Poland’s most important airport, Warsaw's international airport, declared all the landings had to be briefly stopped because of two unauthorized drones flying in the area nearby the one where planes approach for landing.

The responsible of the Warsaw Chopin Airport wrote on Twitter that the landings were suspended for on Saturday afternoon because of the fact that the drones are a real danger for the safe landing procedures. Even though Poland's regulations forbid flying drones within a 20-kilometer (12-mile) radius from airports, but drones have been spotted on some previous occasions near Chopin airport.

Airports around the world were confronted over time with such situations. Not long ago, an Airbus A320 belonging to Air France that was flying from Barcelona to Paris almost reached a drone, on February 19, while preparing to land at Roissy Charles-de-Gaulle, as it was announced by the Office of Investigations and Analysis. The authorities considered it a “serious” incident, as AFP mentioned.

Authorities do not know how many drones are now available for flying all over the world, for many such small devices are sold freely and don’t have to be registered by their owners. Furthermore, with the decrease in purchase prices, the market is growing very fast. In UK, during the sales period, thousands of drones have been sold. Phil Finnegan, one of the leaders of Teal Group aerospace research company, estimates that there are "several million drones" in the United States. In turn, Tony Tyler, general director of the International Air Transport Association, said, quoted by stripes.com, that this problem requires "a sensible approach to regulation and enforcement for those who ignore the rules and regulations and put passengers in danger ".
