Vietnam Airlines Gets Ready to Take Delivery of First Boeing B787-9 Dreamliner
Airline News
The first Boeing B787-9 Dreamliner ordered by Vietnam Airlines has exited from Boeing's paint shop located in Paine Field in Washington, US.
It offers for the first time a complete look at the new aircraft of Vietnam's national carrier, which is covered in a distinctive and updated blue and gold lotus livery.
Vietnam Airlines' new livery is part of an extensive overhaul of the airline’s corporate identity and brand image. This complements the company's substantial fleet upgrade, which includes 19 B787-9s and 14 Airbus A350-900 XWBs.
At the moment, Vietnam Airlines' first new B787-9 is going through pre-flight testing at Boeing's Everett facility.
Resplendent in its newly painted livery, Vietnam Airlines’ first new B787-9 aircraft is now undergoing pre-flight testing at Boeing's facility in Everett, Washington.
Vietnam's flag carrier will be Asia's first airline to simultaneously operate both Airbus and Boeing's next-generation aircraft.
The airline will be the first to introduce nonstop services between Southeast Asia and Europe aboard a B787-9 Dreamliner.
The SkyTeam member will dispatch the new Boeing on an international destination, with Heathrow being the first one to be served.
Frequencies between Heahtrow and Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City are expected to increase from four to five or six weekly services, before daily services will be introduced in summer 2016.
The New Boeing B787-9 Dreamliner can carry more passengers and cargo, with 20 per cent less fuel usage and 20 per cent fewer emissions than the aircraft it will replace.
