Greece is turning out to be on of the most preferred destination by UK tourists, this year. Statistics from the Greek National Tourism Organization have shown a 10% boost in UK bookings for 2014 in comparison to the same period in 2013.

Travel industry analyst, GfK, has compared the data and reached similar conclusions.

A significant increase in trend has been unveiled for the April and May period with close to 80%. With May reservations surpassing August one by an astonishing 16.000 more.

Also, departures scheduled by the end of March for this October have skyrocketed by 26%.

Another significant figure is the 58% increase in group bookings, considering groups above the 11 passengers margin.

Almost 63% of those who chose Greece for their holiday are focusing on the beach. Tourism service operators are looking to add more flexibility to their packages by corroborating beach facilities with different leisure activities.

More than half of those who will go to Greece this year are also interested in its big cities while 63% of them are drawn to historical vestiges and ancient sites.
