TripAdvisor reveals top 10 most popular sights

According to the tops compiled by the United Nations World Tourism Organization, France is the country that attracts most tourists in the world

Also, in a considerable number of questionnaires answered by those who travel the world, Paris ranks among the top five most beloved cities. However, according to a ranking of the most appreciated landscapes conducted by TripAdvisor, France is nowhere to find.

The latest list published by the TripAdvisor specialists shows that the most important landscapes and sights in terms of tourists are not those most of us would expect to find on such a top. Among them we can not find the Statue of Liberty or the Eiffel Tower. Even the Great Wall or Sydney Opera House are not among the most popular places to visit.

TripAdvisor representatives explained in a press conference that the ranking is based on the quantity and quality of user reviews and ratings of a destination's hotels, restaurants, and attractions. Millions of reviews were considered over a 12-month period.

Here are the most popular tourist attractions in the TripAdvisor top : Machu Picchu (Peru), Sheikh Zayed Mosque (Abu Dhabi), Angkor Wat Temple (Siem Reap, Cambodia), The Dome of St. Peter (Italy), Taj Mahal (India), the Cathedral-Mosque of Cordoba (Spain), St. Petersburg Church of the Resurrection (Russia), Alhambra of Granada (Spain), Lincoln’s Memorial (USA), Milan’s Cathedral (Italy).
