Kenya registers increased number of bookings for the summer holidays
Latest data from ForwardKeys show that bookings for summer flights to Kenya have increased by 27 per cent when compared to the same period in 2015.
Moreover, starting this month, all popular destinations in Africa have registered an increasing booking growth rate, as the figures went up by 6 per cent.
Reservations for Namibia have rose by 31.2 per cent. Kenya is second on the list with 27.7 per cent increased, while South Africa scored 21.6 per cent more when compared to last year.
On the other hand, Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia have registered drops in advance bookings, with percentages going from 7.9, 6.6 and 25.8 respectively.
"It's clear that recent events have impacted travel to North African countries, especially Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia which are all showing a marked decline in tourism numbers. However, the picture in Sub-Saharan Africa has changed, with most countries showing very positive increases, such as Namibia, up 31.2%, Kenya up 27.7% and South Africa up 21.6%," commented Olivier Jager, CEO at ForwardKeys.
