Titanic 2Australian entrepreneur, Clive Palmer, has stated his intention of building the Titanic replica, which will be called The Titanic 2. Its first quest will be to finish the initial journey between Southampton and NYC.

The plans for this enquiry have been announced on February 2013, coinciding with the 100th commemoration of the historical sinking of the first Titanic.

Palmer, chairman of Blue Star lines, has stated that the new ship will benefit from all the new top technologies, including the latest available safety and navigation systems. Despite skepticism and critics, the testing for a vessel model has already been programmed.

Recently, a partnership with China’s AVIC for the Titanic 2’s construction has been announced. Blue Star Line’s promoting and Chinese sponsorship management will be handled by AVIC in this mammoth project.

The actual building of the ship will be carried in CSC Jinling Shipyard where Palmer has been building its ships for the Australian mining interests.

AVIC will gain its fare share of fame from this project, as China sees the project as an opportunity to promote itself.

“AVIC will assist in promoting the Titanic 2 and shortlisting sponsors from mainland China on behalf of Blue Star Line. This is a great opportunity for China to showcase its products and promote its artisans and industries to the world.”

“The first project development phase has been completed. Currently the focus is on the evaluation and the project master plan development and more information will be available once this phase is completed.” – Palmer said

The maiden voyage is expected to happen in 2018 on the original Titanic route.
