Stansted Retains Title of Fastest Growing Airport in UK

Stansted Airport, UK's fastest growing airport, opened its doors to almost one million more travellers in the first three months of 2015, registering a year over year increase of 16.3 per cent.
In the last twelve months ending March 2015, Stansted served more than 20.9 million passengers.
In March, the airport registered more than 1.67 million passengers, which is a 24 per cent increase over the same month of last year, and also the tenth consecutive month in which double-digit growth was recorded at Stansted.
"The first quarter of 2015 has been an incredible one and a sensational time for us as an airport. We have welcomed one million more passengers when compared to the same period last year.
"The first three months of 2015 have been an extremely busy and exciting time for Stansted as the airport welcomed nearly one million more passengers during the period than in 2014," said Stansted managing director, Andrew Harrison.
"There was an increase of more than 16 per cent in airport users over the last 12 months and this gets us really close to the 21 million passengers per year milestone.
"In March, the numbers revealed an increase of over 24 per cent over the same month in 2014.
"This incredible performance has helped Stansted achieve double digit growth over a period of ten consecutive months. It is a great achievement that demonstrates the strength of our airline partners who have added frequencies and increased the number of routes to important destinations, thus serving more people on each flight."
