Skytrax reveals the top airlines in the world

News

The best airlines in the world were disclosed in a top Skytrax, according to votes and impressions to 19.2 million passengers worldwide. The awards includes 73 categories from best economy class onboard catering to best airline staff, best seats and best cabin cleanliness.

The survey underscores the consistency of the quality service among the world's top carriers, said Edward Plaisted, Skytrax CEO. "The Middle East airlines have continued to dominate," Plaisted said after the ceremony. "Virgin America continues dominating on the customer side in North America. Turkish Airlines is a big favorite." added Edward Plaisted.

The top 10 best airlines were named as: Lufthansa (ranked 10), Qantas Airways (9), EVA Air (8), Turkish Airlines (7), Etihad Airways (6), ANA All Nippon Airways (5) and Cathay Pacific (4). Singapore Airlines ranked the 3rd place. Although dropped one place from the last year, Singapore Airlines is appreciated for the entertainment and comfort on board with televisions and hot towels provided before departure. Also, Singapore Airlines was twice named the best airline in Asia and the company with the best seats in Business Class.

On the second place there is Qatar Airways. Unlike the last year, in 2016 the company dropped one place and lost its title of the best airline in the world. Even so, the Doha-based company is renowned for its comfortable seats and onboard technology enjoyed by all passengers. Still, Qatar Airways won 1st place in the category "company with the best business class", another top by Skytrax.

Emirates was awarded the first place as the best airline in the world, after last year was ranked 5th among Skytrax. Emirates Company is renowned for the best onboard entertainment options such as video and music on demand. The company, based in Dubai, has the largest fleet of Airbus A380 and Boeing 777.
