Rock am Ring festival canceled by its promoters

The local authorities of the town of Mending, in the western Land of Rhineland-Palatinate, decided to cancel the music festival that took place in the area, after more than 80 people were injured by the lightning, as the festival promoters announced on Sunday, reports DPA

The fans and tourists were asked to leave the festival aria by the authorities of Mending who withdrew the access permit for the Rock am Ring festival as there were several bad weather warnings. More, the meteorologists, quoted by DPA, revealed that there is a threat of occurrence of several storms in the area in the immediate future.
The festival, which attracted over 90,000 visitors to the area, had been resumed for a few hours on Saturday night when on the stage appeared the famous Californian rock band Red Hot Chili Peppers.
In Bavaria, four people were injured after lightning struck their homes. The heavy rains and the severe storms in northern Bavaria led to declaring the state of emergency on Sunday in Weilheim-Schongau Land, amid government efforts to deal with flooding in communities in the area. The emergency services said that they had received calls for help almost every minute overnight. In the west of Bonn Land, the authorities constituted a crisis team after strong rainfall made the rivers overcame the edges, flooding more homes and partial the basements of the city streets. The recent floods in southern Germany ended with seven victims and caused material damage worth hundreds of millions of euro, writes DPA.
