Malaysia Airlines rebranding?

Airline News

Is this the solution for Malaysia Airlines?

Malaysia Airlines, the company involved in the two major recent air tragedies, the disappearance of Flight MH370 as well as the shot down MH17, is considering rebranding the company under a new name.

Malaysia Airlines Commercial Director, Hugh Dunleavy, has stated that a review of the company is being conducted by the Malaysian Gouvernment, the majority shareholder.

“Our majority shareholder, the Malaysian government, has already started a process of assessing the future shape of our business and that process will now be speeded up as a result of MH17,”Malaysia Airlines

“There are several options on the table but all involve creating an airline fit for purpose in what is a new era for us, and other airlines.”

The Telegraph has mentioned that rebranding the airline is among these options.

Flight MH370 has disappeared while flying over the Indian Ocean while traveling from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. The aircraft has been pronounced crashed while the remains are still to be retrieved.

Malaysia Airlines flight MH17, on the other hand, has been sot down while on his trip over Ukraine by pro-Russian separatists.

The total number of victims for the two incidents is set at nearly 600 passengers and crew members.

As these air disasters occurred, Malaysia Airlines started an ad campaign in several newspapers, thanking Malaysians for their trust.

The ads, mostly, read:

“Built through hard work, loyalty and commitment, Malaysia Airlines would not be what we are today without the generations of employees who have woken up each morning to serve with professionalism and determination. … We would not be the airline we are today without the support of millions of Malaysians who fly with us at home and internationally. … Our duty is to serve. And with your blessings, we will do our utmost to continue to do so,”
