Ticket sales for various destinations including feeder services to Lufthansa's hubs in Frankfurt and Munich will commence on April 24, 2024. The airline will utilize aircraft from the Airbus A320 family and has placed an order for 40 Airbus A220-300s, emphasizing its commitment to fleet modernization and efficiency. Lufthansa City Airlines, a new addition to the Lufthansa Group, is set to start its flight operations on June 26, 2024, with its inaugural flight departing from Munich to Birmingham. Starting April 24, 2024, travelers will have the opportunity to purchase tickets for direct flights as well as feeder services to Lufthansa’s hubs in Frankfurt and Munich. Bookings can be made through Lufthansa Group’s existing sales channels using the new airline code “VL”.

This launch marks an expansion in Lufthansa’s regional connectivity from Munich, with initial destinations including Birmingham, Hanover, and Düsseldorf. The airline will operate using the Airbus A320 family and has announced a significant order of 40 Airbus A220-300 aircraft, with an additional 20 purchase options.
