Lufthansa on its 75th Boeing aircraft

Travel Business

By Michael Bobbin |

Lufthansa has celebrated the arrival of its 75th 747 Boeing aircraft.

“Lufthansa is proud to share this milestone with Boeing,”

“The 747 is an amazing airplane and will continue to delight our passengers for many years to come, and provide them with the ultimate in comfort and efficiency.” - Nico Buchholz, executive vice president, Lufthansa Group Fleet Management.

The consolidated business relationship between Lufthansa and Boeing has been openly admitted by the company representatives since April 2012 when the first 747-8 Intercontinental jetliner has been delivered to the aforementioned airline.

This new milestone, the 75th airplane represents the lucky 13th 747-8 Intercontinental jetliner.  Lufthansa is currently flying in ten countries with more than 20 destinations in its portfolio.

The total amount of 747 ordered aircrafts, however, is of 81, with 6 Boeing waiting to be delivered. The first one was delivered in 1970. Lufthansa was also the first airline to ever order a 747-200 Freighter

“Boeing and Lufthansa have a long and proud history of working together to bring new innovations to the airline industry,”

“We are pleased to continue that tradition with the 747-8 Intercontinental.” - John Wojick, senior vice president, Global Sales, Boeing Commercial Airplanes.

It seems the 747-8 Boeing passes as a must have in the airline business with 120 orders placed for cargo or passenger aircrafts. Up until this point, 68 of them have been delivered.

Lasting partnerships like the one between Lufthansa and Boeing are designed to certify a certain quality standard in terms of flight technology and the paraphernalia surrounding this matter. With two strong brands like these two, we expect the partnership to be one of high perspective. Lufthansa Boeing
