Jet2.com operates a fleet consisting of almost 60 aircraft, but this is the airline's first direct Boeing order.

The aircraft will be deployed on the company's rotes to leisure destinations to a combination of exciting European cities, the Mediterranean and the Canary Islands.
"Today's order for 27 additional 737-800NGs will be delivered over the next two years and will offer Jet2.com the necessary cost effective, comfortable and dependable environment to allow us to continue our already highly successful family friendly business," said executive chairman of Jet2.com, Philip Meeson.
"We are very thrilled to have agreed a deal for more of what has already been a popular aircraft within our fleet."

The company started flying commercially in 1983 and introduced passenger flights to sun destinations from in 2003, from its Leeds Bradford Airport.
Jet2.com now carries more than three million travellers per year through a mixture of flight only services and package holidays to 55 destinations and 364 holiday resorts, departing from seven northern bases.

"The 737-800 is the most successful version of the best-selling Next-Generation 737 family and has totaled more than 6,900 orders worldwide," said vice president of European sales, Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Todd Nelp.
"We are thrilled that Jet2.com has chosen Boeing once again to add to its fleet requirements."
