The area around Iceland volcano Bardarbunga has been evacuated as fear of an eruption grows strong.

No actual residents have been affected as the surrounding perimeter is located in a national park, but tourism activities have been suspended.

At approximately 200 mildes from the capital Reykjavik, earth monitoring has shown an activity of 300 earthquakes during the past week, which indicates a high probability of another Iceland volcano eruption.

The evacuation measures taken for the 300 people in the area have been qualified as normal precaution.

The Bardarbunga mountain ranks 2nd in Iceland in terms of height, residing under the Vatnajökull glacier.

Aviation risk has been set to orange from yellow. This means stage 4 out of possible 5 classified as an “escalating unrest with increased potential of eruption”.
