The current chief executive of Heathrow airport, Colin Matthews, will give up his position after the inauguration of Terminal 2, due to occur sometime during this year.Colin Mathews

Since his arrival as chief exec in 2008, Matthews has managed to boost client feedback to new proportions, with more than 75% of the passenger rating to be included in the good or excellent, in comparison to the 50% prior to his arrival.

There is a lot of positive feedback to be associated to his name considering the fact that for the past 3 years, Heathrow’s Terminal 5 has been rewarded with the general opinion of the world’s best airport terminal.

As of June, Heathrow will be welcoming the new Terminal 2.

Renowned for its size and efficiency, the airport has faced a high amount of passenger income during the Olympic and Paralympic Games of 2012.

As of December 2013, the proposal for a third runway has been shortlisted by Sir Howard Davies’- Airports Commission.

“It has been a privilege to serve as chief executive of Heathrow for the last six years.

“With a strong leadership team, the company continues to raise standards of passenger service, improve efficiency and reduce costs.

“The opening of Terminal 2: The Queen’s Terminal in June this year is a further important step in the transformation of Heathrow and long term prospects are bright following the decision of the Airports Commission to shortlist our proposal for a new runway.

“So once Terminal 2 has opened later this year, I have decided the time is right to pass on the baton.” – Colin Mathews, Heathrow Airport’s chief executive
