Deutsche Bahn Extends Amadeus Agreement

 

Deutsche Bahn has extended its 20-year long relationship by signing an agreement with Amadeus for an additional three years, a decision that will grow its online distribution and assist the German company in reaching travellers beyond Europe.

With this new partnership extension, OTAs can better service the leisure traveller worldwide by accessing all of DB's routes and fares through Amadeus Rail Web Services.

In addition, both corporate and traditional travel agencies are offering DB content via Amadeus eTravel Management and Amadeus Rail Display.

Amadeus' rail platform offers OTAs a one-stop-shop, as more than ten providers, including DB, offer industry-leading rail content, increasing their travel offer in the process.

Travelling who are going to Germany or neighbouring countries will now have more travel options thanks to their OTA, and the possibility to easily compare a DB rail fare with an air fare.

They will also have the added convenience of booking all DB fares in the same way as in Germany, regardless of their origin.

"Today's rail traveller has significantly changed from the one ten years ago, as travelling has improved from a station-to-station process to a door-to-door experience," said Mathias Huesk, head of e-commerce at Deutsche Bahn.

"Therefore, we must adapt to these changes and remain competitive while meeting the needs of the new traveller.

"Our extended partnership with Amadeus ensures DB's offer is available in all channels the traveller might choose.

"This means both business and leisure travellers will have the option of booking DB in Germany, Europe and beyond through Amadeus' range of channels.

"I strongly believe this partnership will further support rail travel and make this the foundation of making DB the leading travel choice in Central Europe."
