Costa neoRomantica ship deployed to Asia

Cruise News

The Costa Group has decided to deploy its ship to Asia, starting April 2017

The Costa neoRomantica ship, owned by Costa Group and operated by Costa Asia brand will be the fifth one to serve the Asian region on a regular schedule.

The first trip with Costa neoRomantica can be attended during March 18th and April 10th. The cruise will begin in Port Louis (Mauritius) and will end in Shanghai, after transiting Port Victoria (Seychelles), Malè (Maldives), Colombo (Sri Lanka), Phuket (Thailand), Singapore, Da Nang (Vietnam) and Hong Kong.

After docking in Shanghai, Costa neoRomantica will be upgraded and prepared for future cruises in the Asian region. Its local market itineraries will start on April 24th.

The deployment for the Asian market is part of the company's strategy to boost the cruise industry in the area. Costa Group chief executive Michael Thamm declared:

“The deployment of a fifth Costa ship in Asia in 2017, in addition to the two new fleet members that will be built specially for Costa Asia, will allow us to continue to significantly grow the Asian cruise market in particular China, which is set to become the second largest in the world by the end of the decade.”

In addition to the five ships already operating for Asia, the Costa Group has ordered two new ships from Fincantieri, Italy, to be delivered in 2019 and 2020 respectively.
