Spain is preferred by the British tourists for its warmer climate
2014 has been a great year for traveling from the U.K. to Spain as statistics indicate. A staggering 1.9 million visitors have been reported to follow this trend.
This translates to a 23% tourism market value for this specific group of people, thus making the U.K. the top international market for Spain.
Compared to the same period last year, the increase has been of 4.6%.
France ranks as number 2 on the foreign visitors traveling to Spain, with 17% of market on their side. This means a 12.4% increase compared to the same period in 2013.
The boost in incoming tourists has been felt economically with a 4.5% increase in revenue, in comparison to 2013. This sums up a €8.1 billion on the Spanish side.
Top spenders list includes U.K. with 19.6%, Germany with 13.1% and France with 10.8%.
Up until now, during 2014, Spain has had 36.2 million incoming tourists, a 7% increase in numbers.
The most preferred route has definitely been via airplane with 75% of tourists choosing this way of travel. However, the people who opted for vehicle transportation have also grown in numbers by 13.1%.
The most preferred accommodation have been the Spanish hotels, with a 64.4% of all visitors hosting rate. The aforementioned numbers are expected to grow until the end of 2014 as tourists keep on choosing Spain as their preferred holiday location.
