Hospitality

A 19th century palace was transformed into a new luxury five star hotel in the historical center of Madrid, Spain

Barceló Hotels & Resorts has opened the striking 146-room Barceló Emperatriz hotel, inspired by avant-gardist Eugenia de Montijo, also known as “Barceló’s Empresses”.

Located in the heart of Madrid’s Salamanca neighbourhood, the hotel perfectly blends in near the city's most popular hot-spots.

Sara Ramis, Barceló Hotels & Resorts marketing director declared :

“We have wanted to open a luxury hotel in Madrid for quite some time and we are certain we have found the right spot.

“The building is distinctive and the hotel’s transformation is a clever combination of the old and the new with the personality of Empress Eugenia de Montijo and needs of 21st Empresses evident throughout.

We are truly excited.”

The new hotel's interior design and architecture are unique and quite impressive: frescoes, chandeliers, marble floors, restored fabric line walls guarantee a luxurious once-in-a-lifetime experience for the classy hotel's guests.

Big rooms filled with natural light make accommodation here similar to a Neoclassic palace stay.

Avant-garde furniture and latest technology features complement the new design concept.

The hotel also features garden restaurants serving traditional Spanish tapas and a rooftop bar.
