London is no longer the most visited city in the world, as it was in 2015, while the new most popular holiday destination in the world in 2016 is Bangkok, the capital and the largest city of Thailand. Thailand's capital is supposed to receive up to 30 million visitors by the end of the year.

Bangkok has become the most popular holiday destination in the world in 2016, ahead of London, as it is estimated that the metropolis will welcome by the end of the year more than 21.47 million international visitors, thus bypassing London, which receives about 20 million visitors. The capital of Thailand, known as the "City of Angels" has occupied over time the honorable place in a top made by Mastercard, surpassing cities such as Paris and Dubai, the world's other famous attractions, writes "Daily Mail". The top makers did not specify what part of London glam has been gone and put the city in second place.

On the other hand, Thailand officials declare that they expect by the end of the year to receive 33 million visitors, thanks to the large number of Chinese tourists interested in the area. "Pollution makes them stay more days in this city, but the food is not too good", says James Donnelly, a British tourist who was visiting Vietnam on his way to Bangkok.

Tourism has been one of the strengths of Thailand, the second largest economy in Southeast Asia region, even though the last month a series of explosions destroyed southern Thailand, police placing the responsibility on account of separatist Muslim attacks. But the events did not affect tourism.

Meanwhile, Tokyo remains the world’s most expensive city, as measured by total spending per tourist, with the average visitor spending nearly $2,200, according to the Atlantic. Just imagine how many trips to Bangkok you could take with that much money.
