Arik Air announced it has relaunched flight services to Monrovia, Liberia



Commercial flights to Monrovia were suspended in July 2014 when Ebola virus outbreak seriously affected a few of the West African countries. Eariler on May 2015, Liberia was declared Ebola-free by the government and the World Health Organisation (WHO) after more than 4.700 people died from the virus during a year-long epidemic.


As the epidemic in now under control, Arik Air announced it has relaunched flight services to Monrovia, Liberia.


Arik Air chief executive Michael Arumemi-Ikhide announced: “We are pleased to welcome back our passengers on the Lagos-Monrovia route and want to assure them that their safety and security is always our top priority.”


Three weekly flights from Lagos to Monrovia via Accra, Ghana on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays will be available with Nigerian airline Arik Air. The route will be serviced by a Boeing 737-700 Next Generation aircraft with 124 available passenger seats.


Flights will depart the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos at 07:20 and stop in the Ghanaian city of Accra. At 08:05 flights depart from Accra and arrives in Monrovia, Liberia at 10:05, for a total 2 hours and 45 minutes outbound trip.


Inbound flights are set to leave Monrovia at 10:50 and arrive at Accra airport in Ghana at 12:50. The flight will depart from Accra at 13:35 and will arrive at Lagos airport at 15:35, for a trip that covers the same time as the outbound.
