ANA and Air India Initiate Codeshare Partnership to Enhance Connectivity Between Japan and India

Airlines & Airports

All Nippon Airways (ANA) and Air India announce a new codeshare partnership starting May 23, 2024, to improve flight options and services for travelers between Japan and India, enhancing economic and commercial ties.

All Nippon Airways (ANA), together with Air India, has officially announced a codeshare agreement that will significantly enhance air connectivity between Japan and India. This partnership, effective from May 23, 2024, involves two major carriers within the Star Alliance network, promising expanded service offerings and streamlined travel experiences for passengers flying between the two countries.

Starting today, ANA will place its "NH" code on Air India's flights connecting Narita to Delhi, while Air India will add its "AI" code to ANA's flights from Haneda to New Delhi and from Narita to Mumbai. This strategic collaboration not only increases flight choices for travelers but also allows them to benefit from seamless booking across both airlines, enhancing convenience.

Katsuya Goto, Executive Vice President of Alliances and International Affairs at ANA, emphasized the strategic significance of the partnership, stating, "We look forward to building this strategic partnership with Air India, as it is a significant step towards furthering stronger air connectivity and enhancing customer experience between Japan and India." He noted that this collaboration underlines ANA’s commitment to improving air travel experiences, facilitating a more seamless travel environment between Japan and India.

Nipun Aggarwal, Chief Commercial & Transformation Officer at Air India, also expressed enthusiasm about the new codeshare agreement, saying, "This collaboration broadens our network connectivity and offers our guests seamless travel experiences and a wider choice of flights between the two countries. We look forward to a successful collaboration with ANA and exploring further avenues for cooperation in the future."

The codeshare flights are now available for sale through both airlines' websites, reservation systems, and authorized travel agencies. Both ANA and Air India are contemplating further expansion of this cooperation, potentially adding more destinations to their codeshare agreement in the near future.

This partnership not only promises enhanced direct connectivity but also aims to strengthen the economic and commercial relations between India and Japan, providing new opportunities for travelers from both nations to explore each other’s countries.
