Air China to Inaugurate Beijing-Hakodate Service

Airline News
Air China will commence a nonstop service between Beijing and Hakodate beginning with July 3, 2015. The two flights, CA729 and CA730 respectively, will operate twice weekly aboard a Boeing 737-800, on Monday and Friday.

Flight CA729 takes off from Beijing at 12:10 and touches down in Hakodate at 16:35. The return flight, CA730, will depart Hakodate at 17:45 and land in Beijing at 20:45 local time. The new service from Beijing to Hakodate plans to respond to the increasing demand in China for travel to Japan. This January, Japan relaxed its visa application requirements

The new Beijing - Hakodate route to be opened will further meet Chinese market demand for travel to Japan. On January 19, 2015, Chinese travellers received good news as Japan relaxed its visa application in a program called the "Five-Year Multiple Entry Visa". Over 4 million travellers from China are expected as a result of this decision from the Japanese authorities.

A recent survey places Japan as the "most favorite travel destination in 2015" among 40% of Chinese tourists, a 10% increase over last year. After the addition of Hakodate, Air China will serve 9 destinations between Mainland China and Japan. The 260 weekly flights to Japan serve other cities such as Tokyo, Hiroshima, Nagoya, Osaka, Sapporo, Fukuoka, Sendai and Okinawa.

The new Japan route is part of Air China's plan to establish Beijing as an important hub in its extensive global network and increase its presence in Asia. With this service, Air China's network in the Asia Pacific region will cover more than 20 cities in 2015, including Seoul, Dubai, Sydney, Tokyo, Bangkok, Melbourne, Taipei, Singapore and Hong Kong.
