Air Canada: daily flights to Dubai

News

Air Canada continues expanding internationally and announced new destinations. The company operates a non-stop service on the route Toronto-Dubai, the first destination in the Middle East and one of the few routes linking North America to the United Arab Emirates.

Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft introduction into the fleet of Air Canada was a catalyst for international expansion plans. More, those objectives received an additional boost in 2015 with the introduction of a larger aircraft in the fleet, a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.

"Air Canada's international growth strategy continues to accelerate with the addition of the seventh new international destination to our global network announced in the past year. The three-times-weekly Dubai service will be Air Canada's first non-stop flight to the UAE at a time when air travel between North America and the region is growing, including more international connecting traffic over our Toronto global hub," said Calin Rovinescu, President and Chief Executive Officer at Air Canada.

"The introduction of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner to Air Canada's fleet this year has been a catalyst for our international expansion plans, which will receive an additional impetus in 2015 when the larger Dreamliner 787-9 series aircraft begins to enter the fleet. The Dreamliner has brought international air travel to a new level of comfort and Air Canada has further enhanced the experience with its award-winning, three-cabin service," he added.

The new flights will build Air Canada's awareness in the Middle East by giving its clients direct, permanent access to Dubai, supplementing its other services in this part of the world. Air Canada currently serves the region basically through a broad joint with its JV and Star Alliance partnership with Lufthansa over Frankfurt and Munich. Moreover, the new route will expand on Air Canada's current codeshare association with Etihad Airways, with whom it shares on three flights a week amongst Toronto and Abu Dhabi, in the UAE.
