Air Canada Adds Services to London Gatwick and Lyon

Air Canada plans to expand its global network after announcing new non-stop flights to London Gatwick and Lyon beginning next summer. The two new destinations will offer customers more convenient options when flying to Europe for leisure or business.

Benjamin Smith, President, Passenger Airlines, at Air Canada, said: "Pursuing our ongoing strategy to expand our network, Air Canada is thrilled to provide travellers with non-stop, year-round services between Montreal and Lyon, which is France's second largest metropolitan area.

"Air Canada will continue serving Paris Charles de Gaulle and our new mainline route will further increase convenience for travellers flying to France for business or leisure, as well as offer the only year-round service between North America and Lyon. The decision to introduce Lyon as a destination also complements our Air Canada rouge Nice-Côte d'Azur service."

"Our new seasonal Air Canada rouge service between Toronto and Gatwick Airport in London comes to complement our extensive operation at London Heathrow, which is our largest gateway outside Canada, including non-stop services from eight Canadian cities. Air Canada rouge is the perfect fit to serve London-Gatwick, its focus being on leisure travel and offering easy access to southern London.

"This new addition will also make Air Canada the only airline serving multiple airports in the London region and complements our Air Canada rouge services to Manchester and Edinburgh. Both new routes were created to provide customers with convenient connection times with our extensive domestic and international network," added Smith.

Tickets for both London-Gatwick and Lyon will be available for purchase from July 2nd 2015. The service between Montreal and Lyon will begin on June 16 next year and operate up to five times per week. Air Canada rouge's summer seasonal service from Toronto to London-Gatwick will begin on May 19th 2016 and operate up to seven times per week.
