AccorHotels: new level of social responsibility

Hospitality
AccorHotels, one of the leading global hotel operators and strategic investors, reveals the first results of its sustainable development program called Planet 21 and renews its commitments by 2020

The Group’s vision is to generate positive change by improved hotel services, adding more accountable and more inventive activities in the hotels all over the world.

Sébastien Bazin, Chairman & Group CEO declared in a press release that the commitment and energy demonstrated by AccorHotels teams in the implementation of the Planet 21 program worldwide are both leveraging value for the sustainable performance of the Group. After five years, the results of the first phase of the plan are very encouraging.

More, he added that the company’s aims for 2016 are to implement significant measures of innovation and responsibility. As the Planet 21 first results were great, the next phase of Planet 21 should allow the teams to create a strong sustainable movement and reduce the negative impact by mobilizing employees, guests, partners and local communities.
As part of a policy of progress and transparency, the Group has asked for the opinion of clients on all these issues, evaluated the degree by which the Group’s hotels activity worldwide affects the environment and has reviewed, for the first time, which are the socio-economic changes to be made to properly size challenges facing the build of a new program for the next 5 years.
The program for 2020 has been prepared in consultation with the teams. It reinforces some of the funding commitments of the Group, such as reducing its environmental impact and identify new targets that coincide with both the changes made to the business model and the strategic priorities such as Food&Beverage and sustainable management of its portfolio by HotelInvest properties.

Planet 21 second phase, from 2016-2020, is structured in four areas of action aimed at employees, customers, partners and local communities and has two priorities: food and drinks and buildings.
