Abu Dhabi Starts New Campaign in Egypt

Announcements

Abu Dhabi has revealed it is starting its first outbound tourism promotional campaign in Africa, which will target leading travel operators to encourage more visitors to the emirate.

A delegation from UAE's national airline held a tourism workshop in Cairo for the first time, managing to attract 120 leading travel agent and tour operators from Egypt's capital.

Mubarak Al Nuaimi, Director Promotions & Overseas Offices, TCA Abu Dhabi, said: "We think Africa has a significant tourism potential overall and Egypt in particular. Saudi Arabia currently accounts for the largest part of Egypt's outbound tourism market, and with people flying for Haj and Umrah, we think there also is a great opportunity for Abu Dhabi's growing halal tourism."

"Egyptian travel industry representatives were very impressed by our product diversity and are involved in developing packages to Abu Dhabi. We want to have a sustained period of growth through collaborative travel trade endeavors with Etihad Airways," added Al Nuaimi.

Etihad Airways has 21 flights per week from Cairo to Abu Dhabi International Airport at the moment, while Egypt Air operates another 11 flights weekly from the same city.

Over 100,000 Egyptians have already stayed at one of Abu Dhabi's 157 hotels and hotel apartments this year, strengthening the market as a top 10 hotel guest performer.

TCA Abu Dhabi's African market efforts come after the announcement that Etihad Airways will start daily flights from Entebbe in Uganda starting this May.
